An airport cannot move passengers on good intentions.

The Gaps Are Already There

The sector depends on tight schedules, shared infrastructure, third parties, fuel, communications, technology, weather, access control, and people making sound decisions under pressure.

One failure can spread fast.

• A cyber disruption becomes a gate, dispatch, cargo, or passenger-flow problem.

• A weather event becomes a staffing, fuel, road-access, shelter, and communications problem.

• A suspicious report is received but never given context.

• A vendor fails, and no one has tested the alternative.

• A continuity plan exists, but the people who must use it have not exercised it.

• Security, operations, safety, maintenance, emergency management, and executive leadership are working from different information.

 

A delay becomes a cancellation. A cancellation becomes congestion. Congestion becomes safety risk, public anger, lost revenue, regulatory scrutiny, and damage to trust.

A checklist is not readiness.

 

A tabletop exercise is not proof that the operation will hold.

 

The record must show that leadership identified critical functions, assessed dependencies, assigned corrective action, tested the capability, and corrected what failed.
